Sea to Shining Sea Event Summary

Jun 8, 2010

Sea to Shining Sea, the 4,000-mile cross-country bicycle ride held May 21 through July 24, honors the courage of our military with wounded warriors from all military branches and other athletes, with and without disabilities. The 63-day race from San Francisco to Virginia Beach is hosted by World T.E.A.M. Sports, a non-profit organization, and presented by State Farm.

Three Army ROTC cadets will have the summer jobs of a lifetime by participating as Sea to Shining Sea interns throughout the entire ride providing tactical support and helping with event logistics.  They are proud to be representing the Army, supporting our veterans and gaining leadership experience.

The ride consists of nine stages with a group of core participants that will complete the entire ride, but cities along the way may have local participants join that stage. Larger events that are expected to draw crowds of 5,000 to 10,000 people include the kick off in San Francisco, Calif., an event in Washington D.C., the Fourth of July events in Springfield, Ill., and the finale in Virginia Beach, Va.
