Officer Accession Pilot Program

A NEW OPTION FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AGES 43-60.

Health care professionals who are aged 43-60 and work in certain critical specialties are now eligible for a two-year service contract. The Officer Accession Pilot Program (OAPP) provides the opportunity to serve your country as an Officer in the active Army or Army Reserve.

When you become a health care Officer through the OAPP, you’ll have no further obligation after your two-year contract. You can, however, seek to extend your term of service. In order to become an Officer on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you must meet the following requirements:

As an Officer on the U.S. Army Health Care Team, you’ll be part of one of the world’s largest and most advanced health care systems. You’ll work alongside talented professionals who share your passion for caring for our Soldiers and their Families.

Perhaps most importantly, you can focus on caring for your patients, instead of maintaining a practice. Thanks to the Army’s unique structure, you’ll have fewer concerns about common private-practice issues such as finding patients, securing insurance reimbursement, paying malpractice insurance premiums and maintaining equipment.

In addition to a competitive salary, you’ll receive a comprehensive benefits package. Active Army Officers receive low- or no-cost medical, dental and life insurance, a contributory retirement plan and 30 days of paid vacation earned annually. You’ll also have access to on-post recreation facilities, as well as shopping privileges at the commissary and Post Exchange.
