For more than 200 years, the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) has served and protected U.S. forces and their Families, worked to save the lives of civilians and improved health care systems in areas of operations.
 
The Army Health Care Team, is one of the biggest health care networks in the world and offers its members the opportunity to practice their specialty in world-renowned hospitals, clinics and health care facilities
 
In addition, the U.S. Army offers one of the most comprehensive scholarships available in health care. For those seeking a career as a physician, dentist, veterinarian, optometrist, clinical, counseling psychologist or psychiatric nurse practitioner, the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) offers a unique opportunity for financial support of their education. The Structure
AMEDD offers a number of health care career opportunities to both practicing health care professionals as well as to those in the beginning stages of their professions. AMEDD is comprised of six Corps:

  • Dental Corps
  • Medical Corps
  • Medical Service Corps
  • Medical Specialist Corps
  • Nurse Corps
  • Veterinary Corps

 
A career as an Army health care professional offers experience such as direct patient care, research, disease prevention, allied health care fields or veterinary medicine.
