Cadet Jeremy Koeninger
Cadet Jeremy Koeninger, a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), is currently a student at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz., where he is majoring in business administration.
He is currently spending the summer as an intern for World T.E.A.M. Sports’ inaugural bike trek across America called Sea to Shining Sea May 21 through July 24. Spanning 63 days and 4,000 miles from San Francisco to Virginia Beach, Sea to Shining Sea is honoring the courage of all of our service men and women, many of whom are wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans participating in the cycling event.
Koeninger wanted to participate in Sea to Shining Sea to help disabled veterans and travel across the United States. He is looking forward to the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel sea to sea.
The 26-year-old Tulsa, Okla., native decided to join the Army ROTC program because of the great opportunities provided by the Army. Koeninger, who joined the Army in December 2008, is currently involved in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), which allows him to be a member in the ROTC while also serving in the Army Reserve. He is a health care specialist (combat medic) in the Army Reserve with the 6253rd Army Hospital.
Upon graduation, Koeninger will serve as a medic in the Army. He plans to start his own company one day where he will build houses for impoverished people.
