Errol Smith
Mr. Errol Smith is the 09L Interpreter/Translator Program Manager in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower & Reserve Affairs). As the 09L Program Manager, he is responsible for overseeing the recruiting, retention, marketing, training, mobilization and deployment operations of the 09L program. Mr. Smith reports on the status of the 09L program directly to the Army Secretariat and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Mr. Smith works with Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower and Personnel (G-1), the Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2) and the Defense Language Office to oversee and execute the 09L program.
Prior to being the 09L Program Manager, he was the acting Executive Officer for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Force Management, Manpower & Resources). He also worked at the U.S. Army Manpower Analysis Agency.
Mr. Smith was raised in the British Foreign Service and is a naturalized U.S. Citizen. He has had extensive worldwide travel and during his upbringing lived in England, Turkey, Egypt, Cuba, Kenya, Poland and Jordan. He is fluent in Turkish.
He has a master’s degree in strategic intelligence with a concentration in terrorism and a bachelor’s degree in government administration.
