Lieutenant Colonel Otha Myles

DR. OTHA MYLES, M.D.
Deputy Chief, Epidemiology and Threat Assessment, Division of Retrovirology

Lieutenant Colonel (Dr.) Otha Myles, is the Deputy Chief of Epidemiology and Threat Assessment for Walter Reed’s U.S. Military HIV Research Program. In this role, he conducts research to develop a vaccine for HIV as part of a global research team.
 
Dr. Myles, has worked on projects to build laboratories in remote communities, has trained local village doctors and healers to treat HIV infected patients and has facilitated public education and prevention programs in the U.S., Kenya, Thailand and Europe.
 
Dr. Myles’ interest in HIV research and treatment began when he worked with the AIDS Minority Infrastructure Program in Washington, D.C., during his undergraduate education at Howard University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
